Metelkova Mesto is a haven for artists. "In the context of Slovenian culture graffiti have quite an interesting history. Already from the beginning they were illegal....The stronger the message, the more they were considered a criminal act and consequently bound to be persecuted in the minds of the citizen. In Ljubljana, graffiti increased in number in the eighties - in the years of rock and punk and also of the fight for civil society and the rights of the marginalized groups and individuals....The essence of graffiti more or less remains connected to the social context and cultural margin that is also reflected in the project of Painting Metelkova."

A wonderful, humorous, and honest photographic portrait of 1960s British folk at leisure. Photographer Ray-Jones' aim was in part to capture a specific era of British play before it was in his words "Americanized". Here he accomplishes this admirably through wry but affectionate portraits of ordinary people relaxing on their day off, whether it be sun-bathing, camping, playing children's games, sight-seeing, staging plays, or dancing. Each photo is full of detail, both of the subject's personality as well as their environment. Village life, social events, the natural world, and folk culture are captured in time by Ray-Jones' unique lens. Though he passed at the age of 31 his celebrated and scarce book a day off is now considered a classic of British documentary photography.
